Perhaps the biggest recent change to IP Home Port (aside from forum software migration completed in June/July 2011) will be a fundamental shift in site access permissions that will take place on Monday August 1, 2011.

Historically the site has been wide open for all to browse, but concerns regarding member security, site integrity, and server performance have forced a change whereby we will require user registration and login before the majority of the site's proprietary resources can be viewed on-line.

The resources that will be restricted include :

Note that many of these items (aside from the Discussion Forum) have already been restricted for some time now. The only resources that will continue to be available on a 'view only' basis for guest browsing will be the Welcome Aboard forum and the classified ads.

The bottom line is that site registration is still open and free to all non-commercial parties regardless of IP ownership, but as of August 1, 2011 registration and login will be required before users will be able to access the site's core functions. This change is necessary as a means of establishing accountability for individual actions while visiting the website.
